David Chocron "Solo in Oslo"
Solo in Oslo is a little experiment on my part.
Our globally interconnected planet means that a tiny virus can spread to all corners of the earth within weeks - a viral velocity unimaginable only decades ago. And yet this corona bug is a snail compared to the lightning speed of information, of streams of thought, sound and images - which ideally would be a unmitigated positive force – and counterbalance to destruction.
I am curious about how this all works, and how the experience of playing for an audience remotely actually feels. There is a strong desire to somehow be a part of the global history that is being written these days and hopefully contribute something positive and soothing. Community. Communion. That is why I am here.
Many years ago when I played on the streets with an open guitar case in front of me, I found the experience uniquely rewarding because people gave voluntarily - somewhere on the axis between what they could afford and what they felt you were worth. It is in that busking spirit that I permit myself to accept donations.
These days I would prefer that people contributed to an organization like Doctors Without Borders (i Norge Vipps til 2177), but if you insist on throwing a coin in my guitar case as well - thank you!
Be well - remember to check in on the isolated souls near you - and WASH YOUR HANDS!
David
