Ny laptop for begavet tenåring
My 15 y/o son lost his laptop in the train. After working for weeks to fix and recover data after a previous system crash... After the gafa taped charger died for good.... Full of stuff that he loves (now comes a long list that can be skipped if not in your language...) :
*Lost Data: Miscellaneous C#, Python, Lua, and JS script, a lot of misc batch and AutoHotKey scripts thay were almost always running to improve or change general everyday usage, many software prototypes: (UT/DR Mod Launcher, a few discordpy Python bots, a SPA app written in Angular 9 with an ASP .NET Core 3.1 C# Backend, a personal terminal emulator (cuz I hated all the existing ones), etc...), forks of some major repositories that I made some contributions to but never got to PR, a version of my personal website that was about 12 commits ahead of the remote master that I didn't get to Push either, extremly rare SMW romhacking resources that were deliberately censored after being integrated into a ClosedSource SMW ROMHacking tool and had to be tracked down over obscure message boards and FTP servers, a work-in-progress decompilation of said SMW RH tool mentioned earlier (to extract more censored resources directly from the software itself), a locally running repository clone of Github' s Documentation website for easy off-line access, files for some RaspberryPI projects, a few Linux Virtual Machines with their own long list of files and software, about 100GB of development software, libraries, dependencies, framework, and runtimes that took about 2 weeks to install, lot's of decompiled/disassembled games I was modifying aswell as the software and resources necessary to do so, aaaaand a few GB of music...
Oh I also lost Unity, and some game dev projects for it, aswell as Love2D, Pico8, and some other game dev tools n frameworks *
Now.... He would have it quite hard to retrieve...all above....but the most he would need would be a new laptop. The one that he just lost was a second hand not so new but was a gift from a worker in the domain who believed in him and praised his talent for pattern recognition. He can do stuff like this :
*... Well besides tons of unnecessary nerdy ass computer knowledge that none would ever actually need to know, I'm average in backend, frontend, fullstack, server side, and game development, with C#, Python, JavaScript, Lua, Assembly, NodeJS, Angular, React, HTML, CSS, Unity, Love2D, ImGui, etc... Idk how I'd describe my skillsets other than listing umbrella terms for development environments and languages :/ *
He was offered a job starting after the holidays : * cyber security and malware analysis *
So... The kid needs some support to continue on his path and I don't afford a new laptop investment right now. If any of you feels this is a big chance to give to a gifted teen...and can contribute to it... Please contact him ( fb: David Vawlpe Doremi) to donate for his tool. Thank you. Blessings. :innocent:
