A light of hope amidst the war in Ukraine: Help my mom battle stage 4 brain cancer
Dear Friends,
My name is Christina and I am raising money to help my mother fight cancer.

My mom, Irina, is a 53-year-old beautiful woman, living permanently in Ukraine. Currently, she is facing a harsh battle with a stage 4 brain tumour. This is her second fight, after beating stage 3 brain cancer back in 2018 (Astrocytoma). But victory came with scars; she lost use of her left arm and her ability to walk became notoriously worse.

Our lives took a first hit when war swept through Donetsk in 2014, forcing us to leave everything behind. My mother took it especially difficult, but she was still healthy back then.
My parents started a new life in another town and just when it felt ''the new normal'' mom got diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018. That was cancer stage 3 which my heroic mom battled and won with bravery and optimism.
The ongoing war has choked opportunities, leaving only my dad to provide for our family with a much-reduced salary. Besides caring for my mom, he also supports my disabled grandma and my 10-year-old sister. The war has not just stolen peace from our land but also made accessing medical care a daunting challenge.

Now, my mom needs us more than ever. Over the summer of 2023, she started feeling much worse and almost couldn't walk. In October, we again heard a terrible diagnosis. ''Another tumor appeared''. This time it is a Glioblastoma, a very aggressive type. Her cancer has left her almost entirely disabled by now, struggling with basic things like eating and showering. I see the woman who raised me with endless love, now in need of help with the simplest tasks. It breaks my heart.
As her child, I hope to gift her comfort, to ease her pain. This fundraiser is a hope to gather enough to afford her the medical treatment, chemotherapy, a caring nurse, hospital stays, medicines, and the rehabilitation she desperately needs. Due to the time restraints, we must use a private medical system. The prognosis rings a harsh bell; this might be our last Christmas together. I want to fight for her, just as she fought to create a new home for our family back in 2014.

Your donation, however small, is a step towards healing, towards wrapping my mom in the warmth of better care, towards perhaps one more smile, one more day with her.
For those not living in Norway, you can donate by making a bank transfer to my Revolut bank account. Iban number: LT433250025767555759
