All funds go towards covering the athletes' expenses at the XX FIPSed World Ice Fishing Championship, March 2024, in Mongolia. The Norwegian Competitive Fishing Association (NKFF) is a small, privately funded organization with limited financial resources. The NKFF desires to support Norwegian athletes who have qualified for the upcoming World Ice Fishing Championship being held in Mongolia in 2024. During the winter of 2022-23, numerous competitors battled through 6 qualification events, for the honor of representing Norway as one of the 6 anglers selected for the Norwegian National Ice Fishing Team. Over 60 of Norway’s top ice anglers competed for the coveted spots on the team, with the following 6 ice anglers claiming the honors (sporting club affiliation in parentheses): Thomas Bagdziunas (SFK Acerina), Niklas Strengelsrud (SFK Acerina), Kenneth Jernberg (Odal SFK), Kjell Joar Nerhagen (Trysil SFK), Odd Henning Hansen (Gjøvik and Toten SFK) and Tommy Strengelsrud (SFK Raufjøringen). At XIX WIFC in Estonia, Norway achieved its best results ever, finishing in 4th place and in the fight for a podium finish and a medal right up to the last weigh in of the last zone during the 2-day competition. Since the Norwegian National Ice Fishing Team re-formed in 2015, it has consistently improved upon its results in the standings, to the point where Norway is now considered as a serious contender and a strong favorite for a medal and a podium finish in Mongolia, both as a team and for individual angler honors. This is something that a few years ago was unimaginable; but through the dedication, hard work and traditions of Norwegian fishing that dates back centuries, this has become reality, both for the team and the Kingdom of Norway, as a whole. The National Team is also backed by a very seasoned coaching/training and support staff, with years of experience competing in international angling competitions. The support staff is led by Team Captain Linas Satas, Co-Captain Svein Kristiansen, and also includes Christoffer Nordahl, Ivar Borthen, Thomas Volodka, Sondre Eikbråten, and Sean Warner. We at NKFF sincerely hope that we can count on you to support the National Team,& the pride of the Norwegian nation!
